We Come From Mermaids: African Diaspora and Water (Classroom Workshop, Black womxn & Black Non-binary folks))
with Chandrika Francis
Who is this workshop is for: Black womxn & Black non-binary folks.
This classroom based workshop is an invitation to folks of African descent to immerse ourselves in the rich history of the African Diaspora and water! Learn more about the ways our ancestors engaged with water for resistance and joy during slavery times and the middle passage, and the multitude of rich aquatic traditions in Atlantic African cultures pre European contact. Through games, conversation, readings, lecture, and meditation, we will tap into the joy, liberation, resistance, and wisdom that connects us to our ancestors. Thanks to the generous sponsorship and collaboration with Braided Seeds (https://www.braidedseeds.org/), this $50 workshop is being offered for $15! We encourage you to register for both the classroom session and the pool session, though you are welcome to join for just one!
